DVD from Projector with OLD Gateway Laptops (not tablets)

To watch a DVD on a projector with the old Gateway Laptops (non-tablets) you must put the display into (extend to display2 mode).  When finished with the DVD, you can switch it back.

Steps:

1. Hit the key combination "FN" & "F4" until both the monitor and screen show the background.  Wait 5 seconds between each time pressing the key combination.

Note:  This step is not neccessary if the desktop
background is already showing on the projector.

2.  Right-Click the desktop backround (do not right click any icons) and select properties.

3.  Click the "Settings" tab.

4.  You will see two boxes.  One will be labeled '1', and the other will be labeled '2'.

5.  Click on the box labeled '2'.

6.  Under the boxes will be two checkboxes.  Check (select) the checkbox that says "Extend my display to this monitor"

7.  Close the window, and start the DVD.

8.  Move the DVD player window to the right or left beyond the laptop monitor until it shows on the projector, then maximize the DVD window so it fills the projector screen.  You will still see the background and icons on the laptop screen.

To remove the "DVD playing" settings.

1.  Right-Click the desktop backround (do not right click any icons) and select properties.

2.  Click the "Settings" tab.

3.  You will see two boxes.  One will be labeled '1', and the other will be labeled '2'.

4.  Click on the box labeled '2'.

5.  Under the boxes will be two checkboxes.  UN-check the checkbox that says "Extend my display to this monitor"

6.  1. Hit the key combination "FN" & "F4" until both the monitor and screen show the same thing.  Wait 5 seconds between each time pressing the key combination.
